“Brer Rabbit and the Tar Baby” is a wonderful book that takes kids through the life a trickster and the people who are annoyed by said trickster. The pictures and the strong word choice in this book do a wonderful job at showing the frustration in some of the characters and the fear in others. The author took a classic African-American tale and retold it with great accompanying pictures. Also this story shows that wits can outsmart someone who boast/ brag too much. ( )
