This was a fun book I had never read before. It tells the story of a girl named Clara who stays up every day waiting for her cat to come back inside. She keeps hearing scratches and noises at the door, and when you lift the flap, it's revealed who was actually at the door - a porcupine, a penguin, even a robot - soon, so many creatures have show up that they decide to have a party and after everyone leaves, her cat finally comes home. I always loved books with flaps and other interactive features; I think it's really fun for kids. A fun book. ( )

Pure fun. The heroine is waiting for her cat to home, but lots of other things (a penguin, some familiar-looking dwarves, a robot, and others...) come knocking instead, so they have a party. Sweet, positive, amusing, nothing terribly deep going on here, but a good time is had by all. ( )

Amazon.com Product Description (ISBN 0763618705, Hardcover)

Celebrated children’s author Allan Ahlberg is on the lookout for a cat - but gets a bit distracted - in this silly lift-the-flap book.

Clara has a little cat,
A tabby tom named Jack,
And when he goes out for a walk
She waits till he comes back.

Will the cat come back? Young readers follow Clara to the cat door to look - but each time they’re greeted by a different, decidedly unfeline creature, from a porcupine to a bear to a robot to, well, the Seven Dwarfs. And since they’re all inside anyway and have hung up their things, why not have a big party?

(retrieved from Amazon Thu, 12 Mar 2015 18:15:34 -0400)

While Clara waits for her little cat Jack to come home, so many visitors come through the cat door that she decides to have a party.
