A delightful book that gives an insight into the character and creative processes of Beatrix Potter as well as showing us her later life as a farmer and staunch supporter of the National Trust. I had not realised how much of her work was drawn from life - both animal, human and landscape. Also an insight into a forgotten and stifling world of the late Victorian middle classes and into how hard it could be for a daughter to create a life for themselves. A short but lovely book for anyone who loves Beatrix Potter's work. ( ) no reviews | add a review

Biography & Autobiography.
Nonfiction.
HTML: When Beatrix Potter died, few people knew the full story of her life. Margaret Lane's remarkable piece of literary detective work, originally published only three years after Beatrix's death, told her story for the first time. Extensively revised in 1985 to include new material that had come to light, and now available in this eBook format, it remains essential reading for anyone interested in the background to the author of the famous Peter Rabbit Tales. .No library descriptions found. |
