I agree that the call number should be modular with modules being of two types, say, "core" and "local". The core modules would be universal and unalterable. Local modules would include format, language, etc. The use of the local modules would be the decision of the local library and could be ... Hi, new to the group, although I recognize some names :)
Currently reading "Nation" by Terry Pratchett, and off-and-on "Simplexity" by Jeffrey Kluger.
Reading "Simplexity" by Jeffrey Kluger (but interspersed with Pratchett's Nation which just arrived :) "Nation" by Terry Pratchett. ... a newly married couple could completely misunderstand one another and undesired consequences ensue.

I picked this up thinking it was a collection of biographies. Instead it was more of a feminist thing (not diatribe, not rant - not ... ... sizable roll of blue Lamb's Pride Bulky awaiting some more work. It's the fair isle sweater from Stitch 'n Bitch Nation. ... yarns that demand to be a garter stitch scarf.
I've also cast on the body of a "Fairly Easy Fair Isle" cardigan from Stitch 'n Bitch Nation. It can be seen on Ravelry, where it's currently called "(watch this ... ... any of Debbie Stoller's knitting books (Stitch and Bitch etc.)? There's some such advice in them - well, in Stitch and Bitch Nation, certainly - that would probably be helpful. I haven't had occasion to put it into use, but it's worth looking into. ... wonky at times.
And lastly, even though they're instructional manuals/pattern books, I found both Stitch 'N Bitch and Stitch 'N Bitch Nation, (both by Debbie Stoller), really fun reads. They're actually readable and entertaining in addition to being informative.
ETA: and I can't ... They aren't here yet, but last night I ordered Stitch N Bitch and Stitch N Bitch Nation from Chapters. I had a gift card, so it was like getting them for only $3 each after I'd subtracted the gc amount, and I persuaded my mother to buy something as well so I could get free shipping. :) ... patterns and the commentary very inspiring. I'm definitely going to purchase personal copies of both Stitch 'N Bitch and Stitch 'N Bitch Nation, but I'll hold off on making the order until I know whether or not I should include this one too. I'm around a hundred pages into Miss Garnet's Angel by Salley Vickers, with Stitch 'N Bitch Nation by Debbie Stoller for nonfiction. ... Margaret Weis and Tracy Hickman - library
