Warlord of Jandard

Baron Braan De Cheney had endured ten long years of war and secured an empire in the name of his Empress. Now all he desires is a peaceful retirement--a life away from war, politics, and the church which condemned his mother to death.

In his last campaign, to secure lands already given him by the empress, Braan finds an unlikely ally in Jost Aranur, Under-Reive and sworn man to Braan’s defeated enemy. Against convention and reason, Braan allows Jost to maintain his authority, and elevates him to the position of Reive. The bonds of their new found kinship are soon to be strained however, when the Empress and her power hungry, simpering court pay them an unsolicited visit.

A new struggle for power erupts in the wake of a series of murders, and the ensuing accusations and investigations threaten to reveal the DeCheney family’s most closely guarded secrets. Braan suddenly finds himself vulnerable to attack by enemies who once were allies in a war he is poorly suited to wage. Braan must trust in Jost a man he barely knows to clear his name and help him maintain all he has fought to achieve.
