I bought this not long after my mother died. Though reading it did not take away the pain, it helped me remember my mother in different ways by triggering various memories in my head. And that gave me a lot of comfort, being able to remember her.

Reflecting on the timeless and precious nature of teh mother-daughter bond, Mothers and Daughters celebrates that special relationship, drawing on quotations from times gone by, and from modern sources, to rejoice in the love and unshakable strength of sisterhood that mothers and daughters share. With poetry, memory, proverb, and wit, contributors from Emily Dickinson to Madonna, Louisa May Alcott to Maya Angelou, revel in their tales of motherhood and mothers—creating a warm-hearted, soul-strenghthening collection that is the perfect gift for anyone who has ever been—or even knows—a mother or a daughter.

I've never felt anything like it in my life, it's an amazing love.
Gwynneth Paltrow, on her daughter Apple
