I read this as a child in elementary school and loved it. It was one I reread multiple times. I recall laughing aloud in many places. I dare say I would react a bit differently now, but I bet I'd still like it. It was set in the Great Depression, so I wonder if children today would understand in the same way. My parents lived during the depression so I heard it discussed enough to know something about it even as a little kid. ( )
