I tend to make very scrappy quilts, usually using each fabric in only one block. The author takes scrap quilting to an entirely different level. The quilts in this book are based on traditional blocks, and the author doesn't really do anything unusual with the design or construction of the blocks. But the colors - wow!

The approach to fabric is similar to that of a charm quilt, where each fabric is used for only one piece. By carefully controlling light/dark values, the author has made some beautiful quilts from wild assortments of fabrics. Very inspirational for using up the two huge bins of scraps that lurk in the corner of my sewing room. My only complaint is that, for the price, I would have liked photos of more quilts. ( )
