Jesper was 14 when Hitler occupied Denmark and he became involved in the resistence -- first distributing leaflets and then as a sabateur. When his cell is betrayed, he and an important leader are captured. After a daring escape, he goes underground and begins to fight as a journalist on an underground newspaper. He observes as the occupation takes an emotional toll on the Danes and himself, and as violence escalates as Germany begins losing ground.
