Based on a true story. Set in Scotland in 1692. The men of the village are told to sign a peace treaty with the English before midnight on the first day of the year. The weather prevents them from doing so on time, but they are assured everything is ok until a group of redcoats invade the village. They stay with the villagers, sleeping in their houses & eating their food & then in the middle of the night, they attack. 15 year old one-armed Conn must defend his family with a sword he found on the hill. p.45 -49The soldiers attack!
