This is an excellent short story/novelette about Zedd, and just Zedd, set in the past of the Sword of Truth novels. Zedd, the First Wizard, is fighting a serious war, and must handle many responsibilities, while being asked to do more by a young woman bearing a debt. Short, but good. ( )Not a bad break in the action while moving through the rest of the Sword of Truth series looking back at an important event and giving us a view into the early life of Zedd. Quick read, could have finished in a matter of hours if I put my mind to it. Wish this could be fleshed out into a full lenth novel as it would be interesting to read about the early years of Zedd. The Sword of Truth truly has a strong back story that could lend itself well to many, many novels. This is probably a good one to read at least after reading the first 5 or 6 books in the main series first. Great for those who love Zedd! A really good short story, only 119 pages. If you enjoyed or are enjoying the Sword of Truth series you will like this book. It doesn't matter what book you are on you can read this one next as it is a prequel to Wizard's First Rule, With a young Zedd as first wizard in the war with Panis Rahl before the boundary was put up. Debt of Bones was an interesting departure from the rest of the Sword of Truth series. Seeing Zedd as a young man, seeing how he's grown and changed, gave me a wonderful new perspective on him. It was also nice to get a glimpse into this time, the era before Richard and Kahlan were born, rather than just be told about it in the other series books. Booklet to tell an early story from the world of "Sword of Truth". Not wonderfully written and slightly sweet, but I liked it. It is about Zedd's younger years and the dilemma's he had to face. Small trivial fact: the copyright in the booklet was in the name of Robert Jordan. |
