... This week I've finished Oliver Twist and Pillars of Creation, and started Manifesto of the Communist Party and Naked Empire. I'm still working on Dark Visions, The Poems and Songs of Robert Burns, and The Ultimate Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy. ... children's books. I hadn't read any of them before and I can't wait to read them to Charlie when he gets here.
The Pillars of Creation - another in the Sword of Truth series. 36. The Pillars of Creation by Terry Goodkind (audiobook)
This is book 7 in the Sword of Truth series. Certainly not my favorite of the bunch - the main characters of the series didn't even show up until the last few chapters! Overall I liked this series. I really enjoyed the first half of the series. Pillars of Creation is a good book. The issue with the book is that it expanded the series to a universe that might never have ended. The Naked Empire reinforced that feeling, so the Chainfire Trilogy was born. I ... ... First Rule

After that, I'm not sure... The series sort of starts to go downhill pretty drastically with the 6th & 7th books... this is where I finally lost ... ... just felt it got kind of stupid after that. What ticked you off the most about the series? Ive got to say for me it was Pillars of Creation where Richard and Co. dont show up till the last 20 pages. That was one BORING book. The book before that sucked up till the last 20-30 pages too. ... were mentioned before that in this thread, but not together, i don't think)... #53... you stopped just in time, then, re: pillars of creation - i remember having to force myself to continue reading simply because i had paid for the book.
two that come to mind right away for me are blue ... #51 Same here though I believe I stopped right before Pillars of Creation.
Nice to hear Jordan is doing better. I stopped reading his books at 6 or 7 but always intended to pick up the last book just to find out what happens.
a lot of what others said with the deathgate cycle. Maybe I just ... ... wait for the final book.
I stopped reading the Sword of Truth series by Terry Goodkind too. The last one I read was The Pillars of Creation and I found it so boring I just didn't bother to continue. I may do once that series is finished also. I'm way less inclined to read an unfinished ... ... not a coincidence and was meant to bring in WOT fans, with some good parts to a few of the later books, I gave up after Pillars of Creation, that was just terrible.
After that was done I started and finished the Artemis Fowl Series by Eoin Colfer. Very cool, very funny. Followed it ... ... Games most of all. IN the historical fiction vein I recommend Imperial Governor, Eagle in the Snow & Gore Vidal's Creation. ON the non-fiction side, I'm enjoying Peter Heather's Fall of the Roman Empire.
Naturallu I recommend anything by or about Ammianus Marcellinus!
