Told in letters, diary & chapter form the stories of 2 mothers and 2 daughters and how their lives are linked. Caro(C2) & Carrie (C1) are the main ones, Jennifer (Jazz) & Anna the secondary characters. C1 loves the desert – lives for it, its wildlife – a wild child brought up by her grandmother. C2 hates it – a soon as she can she escapes – after having C1 at 17, does drugs but dreams of being a famous singer. J is jealous of C2 – marries Calum (C1s father after C2 leaves) –divorces him after having A & goes to live on Flinders I to care for crippled father. A is in debt to C1 after a chance meeting where C1 saves her life just like C2 saved Js. Plot spoiler :They are secretly half-sisters.p.55 – 60.Ï was 6 when…”The Queen of Sheba incident. C1 is mad at her grandfather so she hitches up a camel to ride to Alice Springs.
