I loved this book! This book would be perfect for a bilingual student, or a lesson plan involving multiple languages. A little boy goes on an imaginary trip with his family. Over the clouds and across the sea, his family joins him on a trip to visit grandma. I think the fact that this book has both text in English and text in Spanish can really benefit a ELL student. If a teacher is struggling teaching the student English, it may be helpful to connect different words and show connections in the story to the student. For example, instead of saying "Grandma", the student can identify in the story that abuelita means grandma in Spanish. In addition, I think that the pictures were very detailed in order to help the student along with the text. For example, on the page where the boy is in the airplane, the reader could infer that the text says flying. This would be very helpful with students learning to read. The message of this story is to always appreciate and make time for your family. ( )

This is a great bilingual book that gives clear vocabulary instruction with each progression in the story. The illustrations are engaging and match the warmth this family displays for each other.

This will be a great book for a low level Spanish class, as well as a feature in the library of bilingual books or hispanic books during national celebrations of hispanic heritage. This book would also be a great asset to feature in the library shortly before a school vacation. ( )

A warm story of a family that went to see Grandma far away by airplane and bus. Single words in English and Spanish on each page, the illustration tells the story.
