This is a more technical work on Baptist polity, but it's so helpful, instructive, and encouraging to those desiring to implement a Baptist vision for the church. ( )

What a resource! Herein are some of the most influential 18th and 19th century Baptists and there treatments of the doctrine of the church all neatly bound together in one volume. Intimately related to the church's faithfulness and its effectiveness is its polity or system of government. For Baptists, every church is a sovereign ecclesiastical entity answerable to Christ alone. Thus every Baptist church has the responsibility of governing itself according to the mind of Christ. That is exactly what this collection of historic essays is all about. Every Baptist pastor needs to buy, read and re-read this book. ( )
