WARNING: most books in this series contain light BDSM including spanking, flogging, pain for the woman ONLY and themes of dominance and submission.

Other than that annoyance, and the fact that its not noted anywhere, pretty good story. ( )

Started this quite a while ago, but it didn't hold my attention enough to finish. Picked it up again (and its sequel) after reading the new story connected to these books. The latter one is much lighter (and likely needed to be given the shorter length), but there is another connected series I haven't read, so the departure in tone between the first two and the third may be better explained once I read those. Liked the world building and the characters. ( )

Lords of the Were

Author: Bianca D'Arc

ISBN: 978-1599983516

Genre: Paranormal

4 Hearts

Tim and Rafe are werewolf twins who are in charge of the entire were community in this hemisphere. When they are sent an invitation to consecrate the new priestess on Halloween they come to give their approval support of the young woman.

Allie had thought that all her family had died with her parents years before. As she comes of age she is approached by the reining high priestess of the region telling her that she is the new priestess and that she must participate in a special ceremony. Allie doesn't realize that there are were creatures, magical beings and vampires in the world and she isn't sure what to make of this whole priestess business.

She has a lot to learn and the best and the worst is yet to come as she finds herself mated to two gorgeous werewolf alphas and that she has a great enemy who wants to see her dead. It is Tim and Rafe's job to protect their mate, but Allie won't let them be the only one doing the protecting.

Were Lords is a complex story that brings together magical mages, werewolves (as well as other were varieties) and vampires. It is the classic story of good and evil with strong alpha males, feisty heroic females and a lot of great steamy sex scenes. Be prepared for a few dominance games and some bondage.

Description:

Fulfilling her mother's dying wish, Allie climbs a wooded hill just before midnight on Samhain-All Hallow's Eve. At the top, she finds an overgrown, magical stone circle, and her destiny. Waiting for her there are twin alpha werewolves who will be her sworn protectors, her mentorsÉand the loves of her life. If she lives long enough.

Overprotective is just one word to describe Rafe and Tim. Sexy is most definitely another. But their newfound love and all their skills-both mundane and magical-will be tested by an ancient evil. A hostile human mage and a misguided vampire hunt them, servants to secret plans of the ancient Venifucus, a society dedicated to destroying women like Allie.

They will earn unlikely allies, including a half-fey knight imprisoned Underhill for centuries, but will it be enough to battle the evil that stalks them? Will Allie's men be strong enough to let her aid them in her own defense? Only together can were, fey and vampire defeat this latest threat and learn that love does truly conquer all. ( )

Allesandra must be consecrated as the new Priestess by midnight on Samhain. Having grown up orphaned and ignorant of her mystical heritage, she has had little training so far, and even less time to become used to her new role, but she trusts her mentor, Betina.

When the Lords of the Were, twin alpha werewolves Rafe and Tim join the ceremony, she is even more unprepared for their sudden presence in her life and the effect they have on her, but she is definitely not complaining!

As soon as Rafe and Tim lay eyes on Allie, they realize they’ve found their shared mate, and will do anything to protect her from the dark powers that threaten her life.

Until now, I would have told you that the Dragon Knights series was my favorite from Bianca D’Arc, but with the release of Lords of the Were, she launches a new series called ‘Tales of the Were’ which has quickly tied for first place in my favors with the Dragon Knights series!

The two series have some interesting parallels that somehow manage to come across differently in the two sagas. Both series star lead characters that are pure of heart and character and storylines which make the ménage storylines seem natural and almost innocent, and yet the contemporary setting for Lords of the Were somehow lends the tale more grit and spice. Like the Dragon Knights series, Lords of the Were succeeds in turning the ménage concept into a beautiful love story with plenty of steam!

Fans of the fantasy genre will be excited to meet a vampire, mages, fey, and weres of several species in this new series! With strong supporting characters representing each of these species, readers are teased with ideas of future stories perhaps starring each and every one of these intriguing people.

With Lords of the Were, the author has successfully launched a series that promises a rich and multi-layered world that will keep us entertained for many sequels to come!
