Ils étaient six. Six copains, six jeunes hommes aventureux. Ils s'étaient donné cinq ans pour courir le monde et faire fortune. Au retour, ils partageraient, à égalité, quel que soit le butin de chacun. Senterre a réussi, il est riche. Perlonjour a échoué. Namotte, lui, ne reviendra pas : il est tombé à la mer sur le bateau qui le ramenait d'Orient. Gernicot, le troisième à arriver au rendez-vous, affirme que c'est un assassinat... et tombe peu après sous la balle d'un inconnu. Non sans avoir averti ses amis que tous sont menacés du même sort. Mais par qui ? S. A. Steeman obtint en 1931 le Prix du roman d'aventures pour ce suspense haletant, sans temps mort, sans fioritures, qui a le charme "rétro" d'un vieux film en noir et blanc… ( )
