Lots of interesting asides about counterfeiting, Pullman strike and other such things; but the story of the the 'theft" (his body is never actually stolen) is too slight. The black, wood-grained end papers are perfect. ( )An interesting little book about the strange history of burial and re-burial (and reburial yet again) of the body of Abraham Lincoln; all caused by a bumbling attempt to steal his body and hold it for ransom. There's some tedious exposition early on about the history of counterfeiting, but once Craughwell gets into the plot to steal the body and the amazing aftermath the book moves along swiftly and is very enjoyable.
