This is a book which glorified its subject and presented a somewhat one-sided account of the life of Queen Marie. Arguably on of the twentieth century's most famous and most loved queens, Marie of Romania's life was not an easy one. She lived through revolutions, WWI, the death of her husband, and the intolerable cruelty of her eldest son. Yet, Queen Marie went through life with grace and dignity.

As I mentioned, this book does not really go into Queen Marie's faults. It also does not get some facts right, such as the events surrounding the death of her only brother. It also gives the address of The White House, Washington D.C., as 2700 Pennsylvania Avenue, instead of 1600.

Those well versed in the life of Queen Marie will enjoy this, though any reader must be cautious in accepting all statements as fact. ( )
