Mr Morley moves to Japan infatuated by the idea of Japan. Gradually learns the ins and outs of dally life and a bit about 'love' and how people in Japan are enmeshed in society. ( )

This is the Abacus 1996 edition I have. Enjoyed this very much. Interesting insights into Japanese culture and language. ( )

Marvellously vivid account of the adventures of a young man in Japan; while much of it is devoted to his exploration of the bar scene (the "water trade" of the title),
it also includes a thoughtful account of calligraphy and other aspects of Japanese culture. ( )
