Work detailsThe Icebound Land by John Flanagan (Author) (2005)
None. This book had some gripping moments when I was reading it, but no offence to those who like the book this way but some bits are a bit cliche and pretty predictable ( )Another solid addition to the series. Halt is rounded out and there is a (somewhat brief) starring role for Alyssa. The action is far-flung and more countries are brought into the Apprentices' world. There are some twists that you may see coming, but not from TOO far away. All in all, another entertaining tale. Wyatt La Rose The 3 book Icebound land in the rangers apprentice series is a action pack book. After Will and Evanlyn are capture and are going to be sold as slaves things get rough. Halt make a promises to Will that he will find and rescue them. However the Barron refuse to let him go on his hunt for his young apprentice. Halt does the unthinkable he perilously get banished form the castle to go save Will. While Halt is on his way to fin them a former apprentice ranger want to going him will quickly refuse and continues on. However then Horace a friend of Wills in training to become a night tries to join him. Halt also says no and tells him to carry on. However Horace didn't take now for an answer witch in the end was a good thing for Halt. Through out the book it switches between the four characters. This does become annoying however who ever your are reading about always is in the mists of a action packed problem. Good fun - the writing in the series is unexceptional (either for good or for bad), but they are good-humored and keep your interest well enough (given that they are really kids' books). I listened to this one in the car with Jack. I think this one was quite a bit better than the first two - probably because it left behind a lot of the hokey monster stuff and focused more on humans in it's thinly disguised medieval Europe. Will and a girl named Evallyn have been captured by Scandians. This was to much to bear for Halt. He went insane trying his best to get out of the kingdom to save Will. He makes fun of the king and insalts him. Halt was soon arrested and sent of from the land for 1 year. A soon-to-be Knight Horace comes along the adventure with Halt. Horace was Wills best friend. That's when the stroy really begins. The Rangers Apprentice series is epic. I have read all the books. I really wished that Flangan would make more. I want to read this more. It would become boring since I know what happens next. I would recommend this to all the people who like fantasy. 5 stars for this book. no reviews | add a review Is contained inSet of 4 RANGER'S APPRENTICE Books: 1. The Ruins of Gorlan / 2.
