To be honest, I haven't finished The Fabric of the Cosmos yet. It's my lunch hour read, so I've been cruising through it a little at a time. However, I'm several chapters in and can say that I've really enjoyed this book, and it's not often that I sit down to a good piece of nonfiction ... Hi, TheBooknerd!

 TheBooknerd in 50 Book Challenge : TheBooknerd's NonFic 50 (Dec 21, 2008, 1:15am) ... away from all those paranormal romances and reading the many "someday" books that catch my eye.
I'm starting off with The Fabric of the Cosmos by Brian Greene. So far, so good. I finished The Fabric of the Cosmos this past week and Free-Range Knitter a week ago. I'm now reading My Just Desire. I just finished The Fabric of the Cosmos this evening, which I've been working on since, like, forever. (Really. I started it in late August. That's a long time, even by my standards, for something not read for a class.)
I bought The Whiskey Rebels when I was in Austin, 20% off ... Still working on The Fabric of the Cosmos which I think I started in, like, September. (Seriously.) I'm also reading Free-Range Knitter when I'm just not up to physics. I'm still working on The Fabric of the Cosmos since I didn't make any progress on it while I was in Texas. I did, however, make progress reading Free-Range Knitter. I'm still working on The Fabric of the Cosmos. I'm making progress again now that my usual lunch place has finished its emergency renovations to its seating area. Working my way through The Fabric of the Cosmos still. I'm making progress though. There's no thread yet for this week, so I started one.
I am (still) working on The Fabric of the Cosmos, though I might see if I can rustle up some fluff to read as well. Still working on The Fabric of the Cosmos. I've had a nasty cold most of this week, and in no condition to work on The Fabric of the Cosmos. So instead I re-read Lost in a Good Book and The Well of Lost Plots. ETA >91 AnnaClaire, how stupid of me...The Elegant Universe might very well be a good pre-read for The Fabric of the Cosmos. Dr. Greene is, besides studly handsome, a wonderful writer of accessible science...but the subject matter was, for me, more comprehensible in The ... I got The Elegant Universe today through BookMooch. It will remain unread for a while yet -- The Fabric of the Cosmos is proving a bit of a challenge. The science part of my brain is a bit out of shape. :) I'm still working in The Fabric of the Cosmos and will be for some time. I'll be rooting out some fluff to read when I don't feel up to physics. Still working on The Fabric of the Cosmos. I'm a fifth of the way through it after about a week, but that's only because I'm just the tiniest bit less "general" than the intended audience (but admittedly not by much). Boy is this going to be a long haul. Finally finished A Monarchy Transformed. I'm still working on The Fabric of the Cosmos too. (See also, post 32.)
I also started listening to a LibriVox recording of Sir Gawain and the Green Knight. I'm reading The Fabric of the Cosmos. It's a bit out of my usual reading, but not entirely out of left field: I've read similar books (like Coming of Age in the Milky Way), and I did take astronomy in high school. I started The Fabric of the Cosmos Friday. Just finishing A Monarchy Transformed and just starting The Fabric of the Cosmos. (This pair takes bookmash-avoidance to a whole new level.) ... left of A Monarchy Transformed last night, which is way less than I read during a normal lunch. So I stuck The Fabric of the Cosmos in my bag today instead. Try some of Brian Greene's books like The Fabric of the Cosmos and The Elegant Universe - they've both been highly recommended to me and I've just started The Fabric of the Cosmos and his style is really quite accessible (I'm a biologist so physics is a blank for me!) Medellia-Yeah, the finale was more of an emotional journey than an actual plot driven story. Made you feel good and then silly for feeling good. :) Davies and crew are on the way out and a new head writer takes over for the 2010 series.
