Ultimately, I didn't care about Brida, so reading this was tiresome. ( )Young Irish girl who wants to be a witch goes solving her identity and searching for her soulmate. Found him as the kingwitch but she remained with the guy she was already in love with. I loved The Alchemist and loved Veronika Decides to Die, but this book did very little for me. I found the story weak and was disappointed with the sexual aspects and alcohol in relation to a 21 year old girl. Coelho just touches the surface of magic and left me shaking my head. The book is entertaining and I was happy to read it to the end, but I am sorry to say that it just didn't satisfy me like his others books have. Skip this one! hoop onzin, toch wil je weten hoe het verder gaat I loved 'Eleven Minutes', was okay on 'The Alchemist', but really was unimpressed by this one. Coelho did such an amazing job of weaving philosophy into the first two I mentioned, but 'Brida' seem to rely more on 'magic' (even though he was really trying to sell it as the opposite). I'll continue to read his books, because I enjoy the way he tells a story, and 'Eleven Minutes' did really blow me away. no reviews | add a review

This is the story of Brida, a young Irish girl, and her quest for knowledge. She has long been interested in various aspects of magic but is searching for something more. Her search leads her to people of great wisdom, who begin to teach Brida about the spiritual world. She meets a wise man who dwells in a forest, who teaches her about overcoming her fears and trusting in the goodness of the world; and a woman who teaches her how to dance to the music of the world, and how to pray to the moon. As Brida seeks her destiny, she struggles to find a balance between her relationships and her desire to become a witch. This enthralling novel incorporates themes that fans of Paulo Coelho will recognize and treasure—it is a tale of love, passion, mystery, and spirituality from the master storyteller.
