In the spirit of Leonard Ravenhill, A.W. Tozer, and William Law, author Yohannan exhorts Christians to separate themselves from the watered down version of Christianity so prevalent in America and become serious about following Jesus as Lord in every aspect of their lives. He calls them to heightened priorities in the areas of faith, holiness, prayer, missions, simplicity, suffering, and giving; to live a radical life of faith in Christ. This is what he terms "reality."

Yohannan, president of the Texas-based mission organization Gospel for Asia, pulls no punches here, but is not holier-than-thou: he practices what he preaches and admits he has a ways to go. He criticizes the business-minded model that dominates so many American churches where effectiveness is measured by overflow crowds and ever-increasing budgets rather than transformed lives.

This book can be an electrical charge, a slap in the face, a kick in the pants, or an encouraging balm for Christians and church leaders, depending on what they may happen to need. There are 29 short chapters--enough material or supplemental material for nearly a month of daily devotional reading. ( )

This book is dedicated lovingly to my wife, Gisela. She was the first who chose to walk this reality road with me. And, thank God, despite the tears and trials, she has never once looked back.
