Midnight,by Erin Hunter is a wonderful book about six cats that embark on a journey together that will change their lives. Starclan tells them that in order to save their clans, they must find midnight. Together, the four choosen cats, one from each clan, a pesky apprentice, and a caring brother run through unfamiliar plains, twoleg nests, and sharp rocks, and find more than just a prophecy about the forest. You will have to read Midnight to figure out this adventure! ( )An entertaining story. I can see that Rusty/Firepaw/Fireheart will have to become Firestar by the end of the Warriors saga. I didn't like it enough to get the next 5 books but it's a good YA tale & I love cats - even ones who don't appreciate being kittypets. cover: Fire alone can save our Clan... For generations, four Clans of wild cats have shared the forest according to the laws laid down by the powerful ancestors. But the warrior code is threatened, and the ThunderClan cats are in grave danger. The sinister ShadowClan grows stronger every day. Noble warriors are dying -- and some deaths are more mysterious than others... In the midst of this turmoil appears an ordinary housecat named Rusty . . . Who may yet turn out to be the bravest warrior of them all. Young Rusty lives the comfortable life of a kittypet, yet long for something more. One day he ventures into the wild beyond his backyard and encounters warriors of the Thunderclan, a clan of feral cats living free. He volunteers to join them. Renamed Firepaw, he undertakes a difficult course of warrior training and eventually proves his worth to the clan. Erin Hunter describes complex feudal society vaguely reminiscent of ancient samurai Japan. A fun read.
