Well, this was a beautiful book. Sadly, I think that's one of the only reasons I enjoyed reading it. For the entirety of the first book, I was trying to figure out who was who, and the same goes for the next two volumes. I found the plot very hard to follow, and was actually irritated by the fact that the text boxes were covering up the beautiful art instead of advancing the plot. The story flowed all right, but the characters didn't seem to have that much by way of dynamic personalities, and I felt they were all pretty much interchangeable. If it had a better story, I'm sure this series would have been one of my favorites. ( )

The art is beautiful gothic-y art and the story could have been compelling. However, the characters are kinda hard to tell apart so it gets confusing from time to time who is who and what exactly is happening. There is a beautiful white owl in the story, not cute, but very pretty and the guys aren't bad (if you can tell them from the girls half the time). I don't know if I will continue with the series enough to buy more or not - I would read it if I could get it through the library though just to look at the art. ( )

Alichino are beautiful creatures with the power to grant any wish -- for a price. Tsugiri, a young man with a mysterious past, attempts to help a girl find an Alichino to save her brother's life, but learns he has a special -- and dangerous -- relationship to these creatures...

Enough cannot be said about how gorgeous Alichino's artwork is. Its delicate, intricate, Gothic style with breath-takingly beautiful characters is captivating.

However, the art is all Alichino has going for it, as the plot is so thin, confusing, and slow that reading it is a chore. The characters, likewise, are like cardboard cutouts, beautiful but flat and nearly indistinguishable from each other.

I think the artwork alone is worth the purchase, but Alichino really ought to have been an artbook. ( )

The artwork is to DIE FOR, although sometimes it is so complicated you can't really tell what's going on. I think the author should stick with just drawing though, because the writing and story don't pull me in, and the characters seem beautiful, but two-dimensional and so mysterious that you start to lose interest once you think you'll never know more about them.
