AHHHHHhhhhhhhhh. Bear has a box that he thinks is wonderful, but others have him doubting his own opinion. But his opinion is his own, and it works out in the end. This story is simple, but so heartfelt, you sigh with happiness at the turn of the last page.

Caught the tail end of Ms. B reading this in storytime for 2-3yos and brought it home, along with every other "Bear" book by Foley on the shelf! Short and sweet, each features the same familiar cast of friends and a simple object - in this case, a box. ( )

Summary:
"Thank You Bear" is a book about a little bear who finds a little box. When he finds this box he believes that it would be a perfect present for his mouse friend. Before he gets to the mouse he sees many of his other animal friends who do not believe that this little box is a great present. We notice that they may think this because it does not adhere to them, and this makes little bear start to doubt himself. The mouse's reaction changes all of that when he sees the little box.

Review:
The deeper message of this book about little bear is that we should always appreciate the little things in the world, because they may have a big impact on someone else's life. The little bear in this story gets discouraged when his friends do not appreciate the little box that he finds. Situations like this commonly arise in the K-2 grades and therefore these students could relate the feelings of little bear to that of their own. ( )
