( )In this book Aisling keeps tryingto get married but her duties as a guardian and as a demon lord pull her away from one attempt, while her grooms duties as a dragon pull him away from another. The idea of the story is ok, but I find it difficult to understand why Aisling would want to marry her groom when he has a cave-man "I am he-man, I make all decisions" mentality. His secret-keeping attitude tends to create many unnecessary problems. Aisling gives new meaning to the saying "try and try again" as she and Drake attempt to get it together long enough to swap their marriage vows. Another very cute installment in the urban fantasy/paranormal romance series. Now....on to the part where I speak of spoilers! Reader Beware!! There were a couple things I just had to bring forward about my reading. One is, what the heck was up with the dream Aisling had about rescuing Drake? With Drake vehemently denying he sent it to her himself one would have thought this was a mystery to be solved. However, this little plot point trailed off without answer. I hate it when stories do that. Also had to mention my favorite LOL part when Jim regained his second shape as a small Scottish Terrier. A big difference from the Newfie form he was used to! It was just so cute to picture. "Fires of Abaddon, Ash! I wasn't done picking a form! I was just looking at this one! Oh, man, I'm a midget!" :-) You will enjoy this book if you love a main character who "wonder[s] if there was ever going to be a time when she wasn't at least five paces behind everyone else, mentally speaking" (p.128) and additionally wonders if "[t]his is going to be another one of those days where people start talking about stuff like she knows what's going on, only she really doesn't, and she spends the whole time trying to catch up" (p. 137). The author uses the main character's willful ignorance and deliberate stupidity as an excuse not to have a plot or character development. Even if this were the only book available to read, your time would be better spent balancing your checkbook or cleaning the toilet.
