( )An old fisherwoman seems to be having some trouble lately bringing in any catch. The moon is concerned, so on his night off, he pays her a visit to talk. But he brings the tide in, breaking the tea ware. The fishing woman reels in new tea ware next month, and ignores the comments of the fishermen behind her back about her becoming old. When the moon pays his next visit, the fisherwoman confesses that she has been fishing not for fish, but for the man on the moon so that he would stop high tide from damaging her shack & pier! The next month, she reels in some glowing paint with which she paints her house, keeping away the destructive tide. Next time the moon comes bearing honey for tea, the two friends enjoy their time together more than usual. Although the artwork in this book is very beautiful I found the story a little confusing and unclear. I found humor in the fisherwoman using a mouse to catch the moon (cause it is made out of cheese) but I never fully understood why the moon needed to be caught. Nor why the moon would visit the woman, and why they drank tea. I also got the impression that we should learn to control the tides if they damage our homes that we've built, this sort of seems anti-environmental? Using a mouse as bait instead of a worm, an old woman fishes all night long, confusing the fishermen as well as the Man in the Moon. no reviews | add a review
