Genre: Through the non-fiction story the reader is able to see into the life of a child Halloween adventure. This adventure is shown through real life sceanarios that could have happened but did not necessarily happen.

Media: water color

Use: lesson on halloween adventures, lesson on things of fall ( )
  MaggieJayne | Mar 19, 2012 |
Genre: Fiction

Critique: This book is an excellent example of fiction because it is a not-real story with realistic characters and a realistic plot line

Summary: Fall means getting to visit the Comstock farm, and that means getting to pick the reddest apples and picking pumpkins for one little girl. After they pick their apples and pumpkins, they carve funny jack-o-lantern faces into their pumpkins and light them in time for trick or treating.

Characterization: The little girl caracter is a flat character. There is no depth to he character and little or no emotional investment in her as a character, but it wasn't really necessary for the story

Media: The book doesn't say, but it looks like ink and watercolor or some type of paint ( )

This was a very simple book and seemed to lack character, but definitely explored the fun of Fall.

Amazon.com Product Description (ISBN 059045191X, Paperback)

"When red and yellow leaves are on the trees," a little girl goes with her parents to a farm where they pick apples and choose "the best pumpkin of them all." Back home, she helps to carve a grinning jack-o'-lantern face on the big orange pumpkin, which guards their doorstep on halloween night while her mother hands out shiny red apples and she and her father go trick-or-treating with the neighborhood ghosts and goblins.

Bold, autumn-colored paintings and a simple but lively story capture a little girl's joy and satisfaction as she shares in the excitement of the fall season.
