This book tells the story of a storm that comes over a farm. As the storm approaches, the farmer tells Dog to let all the other animals know and guide them to the barn for safety. Dog does so and wrangles up the ducks, cows, and sheep for the farmer. Once they get there, Cat tells them that the storm is a scary person named, "Storm." As the storm passes over them, they think the thunder, lightning, and other aspects of the storm are scaring "Storm" away and helping the animals. The storm finally passes and the farmer comes to the barn to let them know everything was okay and the storm was done. The animals and Cat just thinks she missed "Storm."

A very good concept. Children sometimes get so confused when adults talk, this is a great way to show what we actually mean. It's a bit above some of their heads, but the older 4 year olds seem to understand without needing an explanation. The children will ask me to read it over and over; even when they don't quite understand the meaning, so they must like it! ( )

"Storm is coming! Storm is coming!"

As the news travels across the farm, the animals fear the worst. Who is this terrifying creature named Storm? Huddled in the barn, the animals anxiously wait for his arrival.

But when the sky gets darker, growling fiercely and flashing bright lights, the animals are relieved. The sky must be trying to protect them by scaring away Storm!

Young children will relish the simple humor of this farm tale, made all the more delightful through its dynamic, expressive illustrations.
