Others may enjoy this book, but I found it very hard to bother finishing. There is way too much internal psychology and a frustrating amount of stupid character syndrome. The three primary characters keep meaning to talk to on another then...just...don't. None of the victims' behavior is remotely believable. It seemed lazy to me. The occasional shifts of tense came off like a poorly-conceived gimmick. Rambling bad-guy philosophy provided meaningless filler.

Lessons learned: character fear isn't necessarily scary and being intentionally vague undercuts the storytelling. ( )

This book moves at a very slow pace, but the ending is well worth the wait. the antagonist is one of the most interesting in any book I have read. ( )
