Jordan,
Frank Darabont was the director who did The Shawshank Redemption, The Green Mile and the 2007 The Mist.
In the '80's he did do an adaptation of Stephen King's short story The Woman in the Room. It was his student film if memory serves. Could that be what you were ... ... haven't read the novella.
The Mist was made by the same of other Stephen King films such The Shawshank Redemption and The Green Mile. >126: Ah, okay! Thanks :) I'll make a note of it and try to find The Green Mile first! --> 124
Start with The Green Mile. That's more of a down-to-earth story. Duma Key eventually goes off into the surreal which might be a turn-off if you're not already familiar with King's writing. Hearts in Atlantis would be a good choice as well although that story gets a little flakey (no ... ... King books now available on BookMooch. Personally, I'd recommend Hearts in Atlantis and The Green Mile.

"Isn't that the same one I chased?" I *loved* Duma Key - which is now my favorite.
Second favorite: Hearts in Atlantis
Third Favorite; the Green Mile
Honorary Mention: EveryThing is Eventual - short stories
It's amazing to see which different King books appeal to different people. #161 karenmarie ~ If you don't like horror but do like King, you might try The Green Mile and Rita Hayworth and the Shawshank Redemption. They're both very good, with only a bit of the fantastic in The Green Mile. I also enjoyed his On Writing: a Memoir of the Craft. BTW, I listened to all ... ... go wrong with any of the earlier books mentioned above but also consider The Dead Zone, another gem!
Ellie- I loved The Green Mile! Hope you do too!
Where's BJ? ... look at, including loads of crime and thriller-type books, so if he is okay with our price (fingers crossed) I should have The Green Mile to read soon. 6. Lisey's St ... It depends on how weird you want to get. The Green Mile is one of my favorites. It has a very slight supernatural element to it and the story just wraps around you. Yeah, but the character in question was a she.
I was thinking maybe Dolores Claiborne but that's a total guess as I've so far only seen the movie. (Very good movie BTW.) Is it The Green Mile?
im thinking of the prison connection. Haven't read much of Stephen King, but really liked The Green Mile. The character sketch of even the mouse was was quite amazing and I guess its one of his less dark works (when you compare it to something like The Shining) ... I had it all figured out by the 2nd book - but there was an interesting plotline in this one - not unlike Stephen King's The Green Mile with a healer that takes on the disease or illness of the one he heals. ... work without an ISBN and use a tag back to the listing. I ... ... I just didn't ever feel as connected to the characters as I did in some of the others. Also, it kept reminding me of The Green Mile by Stephen King. However, I liked it enough to pass it on to two others so far. LisaLynne: I read The Green Mile in installments when it came out too - my then-boyfriend and I took turns reading it aloud to each other, which was a lot of fun. 139. The Green Mile is a very good book, one of my favorites by King. #137 - I'm assuming you mean The Green Mile by Stephen King, since I don't know of any other books by that name...what did you think of it? I just bought it a few weeks ago, and I'm trying to decide where to put it in my reading list. I bought The Plant by Stephen King and thought it was a good idea, until he stopped writing it. I also did The green mile one month at a time, I thought it was fun to "stay tuned" ... liked The Shining, Dead Zone, and Hearts in Atlantis for ESP, psychical kind of weird stuff. But my fave fave is The Green Mile. It's epic, remeniscient of ancient hero tales, and deals with the idea of right prevailing over wrong while showing reality (by that I mean John is ... Librarianwannabe For me, there are four: Salem's Lot (scared me spitless); The Stand (a desert-island favorite); The Green Mile (horrifying and wonderful, at different times and sometimes at the same time; also loved the movie); The Shawshank Redemption (different from King's usual but amazing; loved the ... I don't think ... I agree with #72. I thought that The Shawshank Redemption and The Green Mile were wonderful. I wish that the makers of ... ... with Bookmarque that The Shawshank Redemption film adaptation was wonderful, and I just love the movie adaptation of The Green Mile, also by Stephen King.
