Were I feeling more generous, I'd have given it the benefit of the 4-star doubt. How what we believe to be true often is the only reality we need. I also enjoyed the irony of how people can live just a few blocks from one another and never know the connected to each other. On the other hand, I did find the book a bit too coincidental and not all the story lines were filled out as much as I'd like. For example the story of the statue seemed like it could have been developed better. She spends their entire lives living close enough to watch them grow up. Her friend died and "Tennessee" changes her name and raises her daughter.
