Without any backtracking this story takes up immediately where the last volume left off. Asagi and Kaede are seeking passage but find that the seas have been unpredictable and sending all ships back to port. A chance encounter with a mermaid sets them off on a new quest for a magic bauble (actually they wind up looking for more than one as the story goes on).

I really enjoyed this two volume set with one major complaint. Although this leaves off with no resolution of the main theme of finding Kaede's mother, the manga is over *sigh* It drives me crazy when series end abruptly with no true ending. It was a worthwhile adventure while it lasted...too bad it didn't last a bit longer. ( )
