... a high bar - it's superb! David Wellington has written a pretty good vampire series you may want to try - start with 13 Bullets. drneutron, I have not read 13 Bullets but I appreciate the recommendation. I will look for that next time I'm at a bookstore, which I'm sure will be soon.
I hope you enjoy The Strain, I sure did. ... The Strain sounds like it's right up my alley.

I need to keep an eye out for The Strain! Have you seen David Wellington's 13 Bullets and sequels? Evil vampires, hunters trying to kill them, good stuff! ... enjoyed David Wellington's take on vampires. 99 Coffins has a Civil War angle to it, but you probably want to read 13 bullets first because it's a series.
Knights of the Blood is vampires meet Nazis and the Knights Templar. It's a nice little romp.

I'll be reading Monster Planet since I've come this far, but I'm really looking forward to his 13 Bullets. There's also a series by David Wellington that starts with 13 Bullets. I'm pretty sure the main character is a Dhampir. (I haven't read any of these books yet myself, so I can't vouch for quality.)

So good to see you here on LT, welcome! I haven't gotten around to Vampire Zero yet, but I adored 13 Bullets and 99 Coffins. They were the best vampire fiction I have read this year.

Have you seen 99 Coffinsyet? I thought it was even better then 13 Bullets. And I completely agree with your assessment of *that* one. Just started 13 Bullets by David Wellington. ... Bunnicula!
BTW, if you want some truly evil vampires that aren't humans with super powers, try David Wellington's 13 Bullets and 99 Coffins. His zombie books are pretty good, too. ... and action at the end.

I just finished (and enjoyed) 13 Bullets by the guy who wrote Monster Nation, so I'd be interested in hearing your opinion of his zombie stuff. #33
If you like really evil vampires, try 13 bullets. It's the first vampire story in a while that has had a true monster instead of vampires as humans with superpowers.
On the funny side, You Suck was pretty good. ... (such as zombies) only interesting as plot devices to test the reactions of the human protagonists. I haven't yet read 13 Bullets, but I'm wondering how it works there. I just finished 13 Bullets, with some really evil vampires instead of vampires who are basically people with superpowers. It was a refreshing change from the spate of urban supernatural fantasies that seem to be everywhere today. I'm just finishing up 13 Bullets. It's a pretty good vampire suspense/mystery kind of story, but a bit violent for some, I suspect.
