There is a major fascination today with high risk adventure stories, such as Shackleton's voyage to Antarctica, Mallory's attempt to climb Mount Everest in 1929, the sinking of the Titanic, etc. One of the most astonishing voyages was Scott's journey to the South Pole in 1912. Flight of the Falcon is a literary attempt to recreate the journey. The book is comprised of three elements-excerpts from Scott's own journal, Wainwright's poetic recreation of the experiences of the explorers and original photographs from the explorers. Woven together, this book is wonderful reading and a genuine literary and historical experience. No library descriptions found. |
