Book #2 is titled "The Edge" After 14-year-old Peak Marcello is arrested scaling a New York City skyscraper, his mother and stepfather negotiate a plea deal where Peak's long-absent father will take him out of the country until the publicity over his stunt dies down. However, his father, a mountaineer who leads expeditions up Mount Everest, has ulterior motives. In order to save his company, he wants Peak to be the youngest person to ever summit Everest. Smith uses rich and fascinating detail about sherpas, Tibet, Buddhism, climbing Everest, and the personalities of those who attempt the summit. The first-person narrative is not believable as the voice of a 14-year-old boy, but the rich detail and action-adventure keeps you turning the pages. no reviews | add a review
