How about Anne Frank's The Diary of a Young Girl. You could also pair it with something that takes place in the future, like The Uglies by Scott Westerfeld.

Diary of Anne Frank, The Book Thief and Summer of My German Soldier.

Well if you want to go back in time a little, I think Go Ask Alice and The Diary of Anne Frank are books that all teens should read. I also think The Outsiders and Rumble Fish might be dated but they were great books. Looking For Alibrandi by Melina Marchetta is a more modern story I ...

I remember feeling moved especially by The Devil In Vienna, Spying on Miss Muller, and The Diary of a Young Girl.

79/81 Anne Frank: The Diary of a Young Girl I remember reading this in school and being so affected by it. So after reading a couple of other Holocaust books this year, (The Hiding Place, Man's Search for Meaning, The Book Thief), I was interested to see how this one fit in with ...

I finished Diary of a Young Girl, now I have 2 left for my challenge. Instead of hunting a copy of either of those books, I went to the bookstore and came home with Kingdom Keepers and The Hunger Games. Oops.

I finished Lady of Quality at the chiropractor's today. I still have about 20 pages left on The Diary of a Young Girl. I have to say, it's not the way I remember. This is the whole diary, not just the excerpts I read before.

#262 Of course the writing in The Diary of a Young Girl is pretentious and self-centered. Anne was a young teenage girl and like every teenage girl, naive and self absorbed a great deal of the time. It is not her writing in and of itself that makes it a classic - it is her ability to maintain ...

#260 I respectfully disagree with you in regards to The Diary of a Young Girl by Anne Frank. I find the writing pretentious and self centered and can't help but think that it is only because of the tragedy of her death and the fact she didn't survive the war that has made the book so popular. ...
