A long awaited family vacation doesn't meet the expectations of heroine Sophie. The cousins are growing older and everyone changes, including herself, who as left her new "boyfriend" at home. He's not much of a letter writter. ( )

Every summer Sophie looks forward to the 'Summerhouse' where her family and all her aunts, uncles and cousins get together. But this summer things feel different .Sophie is in love, Colleen is 14 and hates the world, Aunt Liz loses her job, and Dad is not his normal self.
