Book 62 according to my list was The Ash Spear by G. R. Grove. Received through the Member Giveaway and a very good read.

6th century Wales? It's post-King Arthur, anyway in The Ash Spear by G. R. Grove. Also Iron Age Ireland in The Swan Maiden by Jules Watson.

"I tried to imagine that resounding battle, and failed." Storyteller by G R Grove "Can you give us a tale, to help it pass?"

#119 Storyteller - G R Grove I bought this one following reviews here, and having failed to get the sequel in the member give away (which I was disappointed as the subject matter - 6th century Welsh culture - is right up my street). The book is self published, and before reading this book I ...

... King in high school, which definitely left their marks on my then impressionable. But that actually wasn't what lead to Storyteller. An finally for Dylan Thomas - the poetry memorization thread was one of the first things that came to mind when I saw that little excerpt... than I saw the ...

Glad to hear you liked Storyteller. I will be starting it soon. I love the Arthurian legends, especially when they are not heavy handed - which sounds like the case here.

19. Storyteller : Being the Wanderings of Gwernin Kyuarwyd by G. R. Grove (c2007, 238 pages, finished May 21) G. R. Grove is a self published author and LTer (username: dchaikin in What Are You Reading Now? : What You Are Reading the Week of 23 May, 2009? (May 25, 2009, 11:03pm)

Last week I finished Storyteller by G. R. Grove - the first book of a trilogy. This is historical fiction about Wales just after the death of King Arthur. It's a simply story, yet it manages to draw a colorful picture of the region during the time period and the world the author creates. Curren ...

... reviews are. Any, back our regular program. I just finished a nice book that I think was self-published by the author - Storyteller by G. R. Grove - librarything member gwernin. I'm not sure yet how to review, I probably need a few days to think about it. *That's said with much too ...

... but quite intrigued by the overall story. Actually I'm still trying to figure it out. A lot of fun. I've started Storyteller by G. R. Grove (aka librarything member gwernin).

Update on Giveaway offering models: I've started a 2-week offering of the e-book version of my first book (Storyteller), with those winners who post a review to receive a pdf of the second book. I've dropped the idea of giving one winner the option of getting a hardcopy for reasons well stated ...

Today is the last day for this chat thread - my thanks to everyone who's participated. The free download link for Storyteller will be live for another week - see my profile for details. And watch the Member Giveaways in March, when I may be making a few hard copies available as well!

... Thanks for your comments. I fell into self-publishing almost accidentally. As I've mentioned elsewhere, the greater part of Storyteller was written as monthly serials. After I had a fair number of chapters, I xerox-published what is now the first half of the book (A Circuit Round Wales) in a ...

... to my interest. I visited Britain a few times and spent a week or two in Wales, following pretty much Gwernin's itinery in Storyteller. And after I got back our local newsletter editor (in the SCA - I've admitted to self-publishing, so I might as well admit to that too!) was looking for filler ...

... of evidence sometimes has its benefits for the storyteller as well as its drawbacks ;-) Glad to hear you're enjoying Storyteller, and I think you're right about the planets - my week wasn't exactly great either. Hopefully next week will be better!

... (I picked a chapter a little way into the story because Chapter 1 contains too many spoilers from the end of Storyteller.)

... and when I settle down to read for enjoyment, I prefer an actual book ;-) I probably will offer at least 3-4 copies of Storyteller presently, but then there's the question of the second book, Flight of the Hawk. I supposed I could offer it with a PDF of the first one included... and then ...

... here. Briefly, regarding Storyteller, since there isn't much in the way of historical sources for Wales in that period and since archeological survivals are also rather thin on the ground, I had to ...

Please welcome G R Grove, author of Storyteller! G.R. will be answering questions until February 9th.

... I use a little Welsh in my books, hopefully just enough for flavor but not confusion. One of my first reviewers said that Storyteller "uses just enough language and phrasing to maintain the period feel without leaving you struggling as if reading a technical manual for a device that has yet to ...
