The book was disappointing to me. I was more disappointed in myself that I succumbed once again to hype when I knew this wasn't the type of book I normally like. Sometimes I'm pleasantly surprised when I get out of the box, ... ... forgotten about the BBC's new Jane Eyre - that really was excellent.
Am I just imagining it or did I hear also that The Time Traveller's Wife was also going to be out as a movie. Henry, one of the two protagonists of The Time Traveler's Wife is a librarian. Several scenes in the novel take place in the chicago institution he works in....name escapes me though. The Time Traveler's Wife movie comes out December 25, 2008

On the other hand, if I love a book, then I am very reluctant about the movie version. I am experiencing this now with The Time Traveler's Wife which I read and reread a number of times now. I am looking forward to Time Travelers Wife. ... and since I was very down when after I left there and passed a Borders on the way back, I stopped in a bought 3 books: Time Travelers Wife, The Godmother and The Maytrees. Unfortunately, my mood wasn't much better after I left. Even books couldn't make the sad go away today. ... loving and then it's on to one of my other library books - either The Garden Of Last Days, A Thousand Splendid Suns or The Time Traveler's Wife. I just hope I can keep renewing these until I finish them, and that no one has a hold on any of them! The Time Traveler's Wife is an amazing book! I finished it a few months ago and couldn't put it down.
May I suggest Atonement, Half of a Yellow Sun and The Kite Runner - some of my all-time favourites.
Being but a young schoolgirl, I have also read My Sister's Keeper, a ... I stayed up late last night to finish The Time Traveler's Wife. I was so afraid to read it for fear that it wouldn't live up to all the hype (and I have it in hardcover no less!). Fortunately, my fears were unfounded. Absolutely an amazing and original book. I'm also thinking about ... The Time Traveler's Wife is my example of such a book. I thought the book's premise was captivating. About half way through it started dragging for me and parts of it made me uncomfortable such as when he was the older man popping in to the little girl's (his future wife's) life. But, I loved the ... #110 and 114 - I am reading The Time Traveler's Wife right now, and it clicked for me at about page 75. At first, I found it stressful with all the jumping around, and because it took me a while to understand that Henry can appear at all different ages regardless of the year. Now I'm absolutely ... ... the bit of hoopla that surrounded it. Of course, the poster above you (ktleyed) has a completely different opinion.
The Time Traveler's Wife is one of my favorite books. I read it in 4 days and it kept me up until 4 a.m. two of the nights that I was reading it. I recommended it to two ... ... Absolutely brilliant. Possibly the best I've read this year so far. Well, there certainly are books that I couldn't get through like MiddleSex and The Time Traveler's Wife but LOTR wasn't one of them. I thought the language was unusually beautiful, I guess that's what you'd expect from an author who studied linguistics. And I adored the way the story was ... ... I was little I remember crying very hard at Little Women and also A Wrinkle in Time.
Like many of you, I cried over The Time Traveler's Wife. Wizard and Glass made me sob, but I think the book that made me cry the most, so much so that I can get choked up just thinking about it, was Ma ... ... t!

I've also tried to read Fugitive Pieces, The Underpainter, The Blind Assassin and The Accidental (hated the ... The Time Traveler's Wife is on my reading list at the moment so it's nice to see that you enjoyed it. I've heard good things so it may just get moved to the top or topish part of the pile. ... to read it and failed to muster up enough interest so I think it's time to pass it along) and am now working my way through The Time Traveler's Wife as part of an online book club type deal. I'm also reading Harry Potter and the Philosopher's Stone (fairly slowly) with people on livejournal.

Besides the usual suspects, I have to say I was quite pleased with a more recent "mainstream" novel, The Time Traveller's Wife. Well done, IMHO. ... Die. I also finished 9. The best book I've read this year has to be The Sweet Far Thing.
Twilight comes in near second along with New Moon and Eclipse.
