Sports in America: Decade by Decade is an eight-volume history of 20th-century American athletics that covers historical high points, scandals, records, championships, and the rise of professional athletics with the unique slant of examining sports as social history. This set looks at how sports have impacted culture; shaped race relations; influenced world events; and much more. Each volume contains an introduction to the decade and year-by-year chapters that recount the important highlights of a particular time period. Each year receives several pages of coverage, and each entry is labeled with an icon designating the particular sport being discussed. Highlights include: professional, collegiate, and amateur athletics, equipment revolutions, sport-changing events, key figures on and off the field and more.
