Work detailsHarry Potter Box Set (Books 1-7) by J. K. Rowling
read for fantasy, sci-fi These books follow the adventure of harry potter as he finds out he is a wizard Funny, magical, monsters, kids and twisting misterys recomended for kids 10 years and up. :D :) At first glance, Harry Potter is seen as the story of wizard boy who overcomes his bad luck and becomes a hero. But on deeper level, Harry could be seen as a Christ figure and this completely changes the way someone could look at the book. Harry could be seen as a Christ figure in the fact that he was put through very negative circumstances and was willing to die to save all of humanity as it is known and even dies but comes back to life. All of these are parallels to Jesus. There are other archetypes as well in this book, but I thought it was important to mention the main one. This book really opened my eyes to the fact that on the surface entertainment can go way deeper than initially thought. All you have to do to find the meaning is a third or fourth read. I'm starting my run through the series. It's fun to see where it started, and know that so many little details come back later. The sense of awe and wonder is definitely there; Harry's incredulity comes across so clearly. You don't get the sense that the plot is quite so enormous yet, but there are little hints, and Philosopher's Stone hints at it very quietly. A quibble: virtually anything Harry says to Draco (or Dudley) is "said coolly." Anything Snape says is "said coldly." I get it. Snape is mean and rotten to the core; Harry keeps a very even temper when responding to bullies. Until he's pushed too far, of course, but he can't be expected to speak coolly then, can he? no reviews | add a review ContainsHarry Potter and the Sorcerer's Stone (Book 1) by J. K.
