... a fan and someone who liked Neuromancer a lot, you'll want to take this with a grain of salt, but I also highly recommend Virtual Light and Idoru. Imaginative and engaging. What are the chances that I would read two books, one Cyberpunk William Gibson, Virtual Light, one time travel 2057 to 1940 and back again and again, Connie Willis ,to say nothing of the dog, back to back, and both would mention "Hair Wreaths"???
So odd and been chewing at what's ... ... be fantasy, like the Harry Potter books, Neverwhere, and Graceling,
it can be science fiction like Enders Game, Virtual Light and Snow Crash,
it can be mysteries by authors like Walter Mosley, Louise Penny and Andrea Camilleri,
it can be modern literature like Kafka on ... ... ate.

I finally gave up on this book. In a way I wish I hadn't it ... ... have had an amazing time all in all on my trip so I'm happy.
I'll get back to my reading soon enough. I'm still reading Virtual Light and doing it veeeeeeeery slowly because I'm not enjoying it nowhere nearly as much as Idoru. I just cannot get into it. But I have two thirds of it left so ... Just started Virtual Light by William Gibson. Second book of his in a row I'm reading after Idoru. They're both set in the same world, so it'll be interested to see how they compare. ... the rest of the book is as good as these pages have been, I'll definitely be looking for the rest of the series! (Namely, Virtual Light and All Tomorrow's Parties) ... Fiends, Christopher Moore

A fifth of the way isn't so bad, is it?
... Just finished William Gibson's Virtual Light. Fun, fast-paced. Running off now to start the next in the series, Idoru. I finished The Brothers Torres last night, and this afternoon I think I'll start Virtual Light by William Gibson. Have you tried any other Gibson stuff besides NEUROMANCER?
I have Burning Chrome, Count Zero and Virtual Light in addition to Neuromancer, but no, I haven't attempted any of the others yet.
I have been thinking about trying some other cyberpunk milestones like Heavy Weather ... Two more HPB coupons, two more books:
Virtual Light by William Gibson, and
Singularity Sky by Charles Stross ... but only inasmuch as the science and pseudo-science they use in their stories. I once tried to get my father to read Virtual Light by William Gibson. He gave up after a couple of chapters. Yet only recently, he read a space opera I'd written and said he understood everything in it.
... Um, I'd agree with one or two of them. Not a fan of Bear or Wilson. Not read any Chabon. Not read any Gibson since Virtual Light. Only read Stross's Glasshouse, and it didn't inspire to dash out and read the rest of his oeuvre. But I do like Ian McDonald, Alastair Reynolds, Kim Stanley ... ... ooks.
Then again, I enjoyed The Difference Engine. Having said that, I've not read anything by William Gibson since Virtual Light, and Bruce Sterling's fiction no longers wows as much as it once did. ... readings: (six sections total)
"Core Readings"
William Gibson (Neuromancer, Count Zero, Mona Lisa Overdrive, Virtual Light, Idoru, All Tomorrow's Parties)
Bruce Sterling (The Artificial Kid, Schismatrix Plus) Splintered light by Verlyn Flieger
Light sitting in light by Elaine MacInnes
Virtual light by William Gibson
Light on C.S. Lewis by Jocelyn Gibb
Earthlight by Arthur C. Clarke
touchstones very touchy today, aren't they ... respectively in Bertrand Russell: A Life by Robert Ferguson, Henry Miller: A Life by Caroline Moorhead, and Rage for Fame: Clare Booth Luce by Sylvia Morris. While these people made valuable, or at least interesting, contributions in their work they all seemed to lack even an ... ... Lisa Overdrive. I think Count Zero was my favorite, if only because the main character amused me.
I've also read Virtual Light and its (not-as-good) sequels, plus Pattern Recognition (which I enjoyed, even if it was a bit of a silly plot - viral video? Meh.).
