Another story about the country music industry - which I LOVE. This one explores the dark side of the biz - what happens when you don't make it. The message in this story really hit home with me. No, I've never tried to be a country music singer! I'm talking about the concept of grace - a concept that I struggle with. I could identify with Roxy's struggle to accept grace and Elena's struggle to give it. I also enjoyed Roxy's journey to Christ, as I've found myself asking a lot of the same questions that she did. The conflict between sisters Roxy and Elena was well written - I could feel the angst between them. ( )

The book centered around Roxy Burke her sister, Elena and Wyatt Baldini.

Roxy had a dream of being a famous country singer. She, with her grandmother's inheritance, took off for Nashville leaving behind and broken hearted boyfriend, Wyatt and a disappointed sister and father.

Roxy wanted to start out at the top rather work her way up. After several years her possibilities and money dried up. She was now hungry and living in terrible conditions when she heard a small voice say 'It's time to go home'.

When she finally makes it home her father welcomes her. (something she knows she doesn't deserve). She finds that her sister is very reserved with her feelings. An even greater surprise is that Wyatt is engaged to Elena. Elena however, struggles with how freely Wyatt and her father have shown grace to Roxy.

Is there still something between Roxy and Wyatt? Elena feels threatened by the relationship that Roxy and Wyatt once shared. Can God help them to get beyond their past hurts and mistakes and give them a second chance?

This story is so applicable to today. The characters were so real and their feelings were so valid. How the characters evolved seemed very natural.

I think Robin did a wonderful job on a modern day version of the prodical. She shows from Elena's point of view how hard it would be to welcome back a rebellious sister... when you have done everything right. But it also shows that her pride in doing things right doesn't allow room for grace. ( )

With her inheritance gone, she returns to her hometown. Roxy Burk returns home after living the wild life and waisting her talent to a town unsure if God's grace should be given to Roxy.
