... and breezed through the first half. It's engaging and I love the character of Fate but, for my liking, it's too similar to Where the Heart Is.

I also read Where the Heart Is, and I have to agree with you on the weirdness, oxymoron. But I wouldn't say it was an awful book. ... and did enjoy that, but it helps that I read the book a long time ago and was fuzzy on the details.
I've also read Where the Heart is by Billie Letts and watched the movie and loved both of them.
Pay It Forward by Catherine Ryan Hyde was a better book than movie.
I've only ... ... downloadable books too. I recommend unabridged. I have one abridged that I love - the story about the baby born in Walmart (Where the Heart Is?. They made a really bad movie about it. I like the abridged audio book better than the unabridged for this one. #143 GertrudeTonks:

4. ... I'm about 100 pages into Where the Heart Is by Billie Letts. I wanted something with heart to it, so I figured it was time to reread this one. I'm poised to begin Shoot the Moon by Billie Letts. I loved Where the Heart Is, so I have high hopes for this one.
