I started Zodiac on an airplane yesterday. I get the sense it's not a great way to start Stephenson?
I'm reading Zodiac , by Neal Stephensondescribed as an "eco -thriller", it's a fun and funny book and a pretty fast/straightforward read for Stephenson.

... to re-read, my favorite two books of all time would have to be The Moon is a Harsh Mistress by Robert Heinlein, and Zodiac by Neal Stephenson. Two very different, but absolutely brilliant and unforgettable books. Highly recommended.

My sister suggests Zodiac by Neal Stephenson.
We both suggest Earth by David Brin.
If you haven't read The Left Hand of Darkness by Ursula K. Le Guin, it deals with some of those issues (although not in our solar system).

roseread: The thing I liked best about Zodiac was its description of biking Comm Ave and Charlesgate West with a fried stoplight. Taking it one lane at a time rang true and really does take balls sometimes.
ZODIAC and 300 look freaking amasing. Not sure whether I'll see ZODIAC in theaters, but definitely going to make a point of seeing 300 in theaters and buying it for my collection.
FYI: none of the links for ZODIAC go to the correct book. They all go to the book by Neal Stephenson.

Zodiac by Neal Stephenson. It takes place in and around Boston. It's a near-future (now recent past) eco-thriller about polluters dumping in the Charles and the harbor.
... crash, but Diamond Age isn't a work I'd recommend to someone not used to Stephenson, same with Cryptonomicon. Zodiac on the other hand was fun and pretty easy to read.
