This short book is based on the 'law' of natural attraction, or 'thoughts are things'. What you think you draw to yourself, so if you think negative thoughts or a thought with a negative in it (eg. I don't want to gain weight), you will draw those things to yourself and they will continue to happen to you (eg. you gain weight since you are thinking about gaining weight - the 'don't want to' part is ignored).
On the other hand, if you focus on a positive that you want, and you are very specific about it, preferably writing it down, you send out a 'thought frequency' and that very thing will be attracted to you and come to pass.
My take away - stay biblical in your thinking. The Bible does have support for this kind of thinking: Philippians 4:8 (King James Version (KJV)): Finally, brethren, whatsoever things are true, whatsoever things are honest, whatsoever things are just, whatsoever things are pure, whatsoever things are lovely, whatsoever things are of good report; if there be any virtue, and if there be any praise, think on these things.
So yes, phrase your thoughts in a positive manner (exactly what you do want, not what you don't want) and focus on those thoughts. However, praise God for the good gifts he freely gives those who abide in Him rather than thinking the universe provides whatever you ask of it. ( )

I’m not a critic of this sort of thing. It’s good, and actually more important than I thought until recently. Of course, I’m not so much a fan of the style, which is a little choppy, although on the other hand, there are many more distinct sources than there are in many prosperity books, lots of classic or obscure prosperity teachers, although some of the famous names are a bit of a stretch—many of the philosophers didn’t care much for applied teachings, although some or perhaps most of the successful novelists probably had some intuitive sense of a prosperity principle, although in some cases it may have been a sort of partially deformed prosperity thinking; someone like Dickens (or whoever you like who’s like Dickens) probably became successful at least partially by thinking the way that so many people think—by inventing people who are ‘relatable’, and kinda miserable like everybody else so we feel good about how unremarkable they are—and in some cases (I actually don’t know That much about old Charlie, who did have money I think, and probably his little boy David Copperfield too, even if he didn’t exactly teach prosperity to people), that relatable/popularity factor, thinking deformed popular prosperity, can make people manifest the common problems and end up very unhappy. But aside from the lists of famous people overreach, and despite the choppy style, mostly the book isn’t dependent on liking David Copperfield and the various classic and contemporary voices aren’t really dependent on fame, I think.

Anyway, some people will always criticize something that has a certain popularity but is not mainstream, as part of the cultural ideal of myth busting or whatever, or maybe I should just say, Whenever something attains a certain popularity, or even, whenever something arises. But, what is there in that. It’s their world too, after all.

I recently became a Quaker, but I know I’m not as stereotypically Quaker on every issue (“war is not the answer”) as some people are, (but it’s not a club, you know), and I’m not as Secret-y as some Secret people are. They’re right that we over-empower competition and strife, but there’s always the question of not (intentionally) alienating the competitive/fighter type, as much as I often don’t trust that type, you know. I don’t know. I’m strange. But I don’t know. Provisionally, sometimes I guess that war can be a good thing, or a less problematic option in some cases; it’s just that we should be prepared to start to like the people we constantly associate with through warfare. The English and the French rubbed up against each other and fought for so many centuries, that they almost start to blur together in certain imaginations. Whites think that Blacks are dogs half the time, but you can’t really separate Blackness out of American culture and have the whole picture; they’re here, you know. And obviously enemies-to-lovers is a staple of the romance genre.

I don’t know. It’s not that any one thought is so bad, really, and it’s not like I’m only going to read success books. But I thought I couldn’t do it before, and it ended up making other aspects of study and life marginally unsatisfying—and unnecessarily so. I can succeed, you know—in any way. And the basic idea that we empower over-competitiveness and othering-out-of-paranoia is certainly true, and needs to be said, and taken seriously.

And then, we can solve problems. And have fun.


. It is true, like one of the snippets said, that infinity really comes from Mind; it doesn’t come so much from outer space, from “Star Trek”. I guess I could read a Trek book if I wanted to, but even infinite galaxies with that teenagers-and-bureaucrats model isn’t always very satisfying, you know. (I used to think, back in Discount Department, that our base was alcoholics and children: all the sayings were “let’s drink! Drink until we die!” stuff, in thinly-disguised baby talk. I guess you can do that, too, if you want; you can even marry and have a family, ban substances like psychedelics that can promote the spiritual journey, and then get smashed every week, and bring home “Baby’s first drunken binge” sayings, while your partner says, I don’t understand the mysteries of the universe
. But I love bureaucracy! And smashing Borg cubes! —And then the other one will come back asking if that’s a new party drug

But anyway, the infinite doesn’t come from infinite colonialism, or cleaned-up colonialism, or anything like that. It comes from Infinite Mind, infinite Inside
. And it comes just as it is, although it’s always changing.
