In one, a beautiful representative of a Phoenix-worshipping religion approaches Professor Xavier with an offer to financially sponsor the X-Men, in return for a chance to examine Jean Grey to see if she is indeed the embodiment of the Phoenix. Later, her group is revealed to be the resurrection of the Hellfire Club. In another, a near-all-powerful mutant alters the memories of the X-Men and arranges to be welcomed as a new and revered member of the team. When his ruse is discovered, he fakes his own defeat and death; the real plan was to be able to isolate himself in some unpopulated area, undisturbed. And finally, Nightcrawler, desperately in love with Dazzler, kidnaps her from her hospital room, pretending to protect her from pursuers. He is discovered by the other X-Men and falls to them in battle, protesting that he only wanted a chance to get to know her. Also, his religious homophobia surfaces as he accuses Peter of betrayal for hiding his true self from him. no reviews | add a review

I looked it up and he's unique to this universe. So much for hunches. Man I hope he's developed further at some point. I don't think he is before 'Ultimatum' at least.
"The Phoenix saga" reinvention is ramping up into something good as well, but the real development in this book was Nightcrawler and what a biggoty bigot he is. This probably has to do with him being crazy, but still. Wow. Did not see that coming. Man, things get good for my man Ultimate Colossus, and all of sudden my other favorite turns sour?
Read on, read on. That's all you can do.
